Why is your cleansing and exfoliation strategy so important when you're using high end cosmeceutical grade ingredients?
Hi, I'm Jodie Baker. I'm the owner of Homepeel, Australia's favourite cosmeceutical grade natural skincare brand. And today I'm going to explain to you why your cleansing and exfoliation strategy is so important when you're using high end cosmeceutical grade ingredients, like Homepeel does, but without all the nasty chemicals and alcohols and drying and ageing toxic ingredients. And the reason is because when you're using these cosmeceutical grade ingredients like niacinamide or vitaminC or lactic acid, what they tend to do is they accelerate the skin's turnover. So a lot of activity is generated and retinol Retinol is a really important one. It accelerates the skin's turnover. So all this action is happening. So you're getting skin cells that are being pushed to the surface quicker than normal.
So what can happen is, if you're not helping the skin to exfoliate these, so those skin cells will end up sitting on top of the skin in a flat kind of arrangement, sort of like a barrier, like a dead skin cell mask on top of your skin. And your skin needs help to have that removed. And if you're not going to help your skin remove that, you are putting your skin at risk of getting congestion or blackheads or pimples or something like that. But if you over exfoliate and over cleanse, then you're putting your skin at risk at breaking its barrier. So that's upsetting the natural balance of your skin's barrier, which will result in redness, dry, flaky, all that sort of stuff.
You'll know, when you break your skin's barrier, and it's very annoying. If you have that, please contact one of our skincare coaches at Homepeel and we can walk you through repairing it. But that's the reason why. So, Homepeel has an amazing enzyme cleansing kit which has enzymatic compounds in it that chomps away dead skin cells. So it's actually very effective, but a little less harsh. In fact, it's based on ancient technology. What they used to do are derived from pineapple and papaya, and in the olden days, they used to get those two fruits and they used to put it on wounds and burns because they knew that it would eat the dead skin cells whilst leaving the alive, beautiful, healthy skin cells alone.
So it's amazing. Well, that's what our enzyme cleansing gel is based on and it's coupled with an exfoliating powder, exfoliating crystals. So this powder is very, very fine .It's like a polish. You often find that exfoliators tend to sometimes can have quite often, in fact, more times than most have really large particles in them. And these particles create micro-wounds in your skin, they drag to the skin. So you really need to have a very fine powder, but it has to be coarse and that will polish off those dead skin cells. But you need to make sure that you're not overdoing it. So with ours, you would use the Exfoliating powder crystals? The Exfoliating crystals twice a week only. And you can use the enzyme gel cleanser once to two times a week. We also have a fortnightly fruit peel, which is really good. You do it once a week and it's like doing a microdermabrasion at home. And that has no downtime.
But anyway, that's it from me. That's just to let you know that if you're using powerful cosmeceutical grade ingredients and you're not exfoliating and cleansing properly and you're finding that your skin's getting congested or pimples or you're getting red flakiness, the reason is because of your cleansing and your exfoliating strategy is not correct for your skin. Have a great day.
